Marriage is the sacrament by which a man and a woman establish a lifelong covenant of love. By elevating marriage to the dignity of a sacrament, Jesus Christ sanctified human love and made it a visible sign of his faithful and unwavering love for the Church.

Christian spouses receive God's grace to live their marital vocation with love, fidelity and dedication, forming a family founded on faith and open to the gift of life.
